Take 5 minutes for Integration8 October 2021 (by Tricia Douglas (admin)) |
There is an imortant Bill for Inetgrated Education which we need youir help to get passsed. Please take a little time to fill in the form and help make a difference.
What can you do in 5 minutes?
· Make and drink a cup of tea/coffee?
· Listen to 2 songs from your favourite play list?
· Or you can do your part to increase the level of Integrated School provision in Northern Ireland.
Over forty years ago a group of parents met and planned an alternative to segregated education. This year celebrates the opening of Lagan College, Northern Ireland's first Integrated school., Hazelwood opening 4 years later in 1985. Forty years later less than 10% of pupils have places in Integrated schools. Many of these schools are over-subscribed. Poll after poll clearly shows that the overwhelming majority of adults in Northern Ireland want our Politicians to plan and grow the Integrated sector.
Right now the Integrated Education Bill is making its way through the Executive. This will make it a law to develop and grow the Integrated school sector in Northern Ireland.
Below you will find a link attached that will take you to a questionnaire. When you open the link you will be asked to agree, disagree to a number of questions. There is a space to write your own response. If you choose to write a response the questionnaire will take around 20 minutes to complete, however if you just click agree to every question it will only take 5 minutes. I would encourage all of you to simply click agree, your response will still be registered and submitted.
The more submissions the better so you can share this link with friends and family. However, the deadline is fast approaching, it is Sunday 10th October so you must complete the questionnaire this week. If you believe that Integrated schools have a pivotal part to play in promoting reconciliation and creating a more peaceful Northern Ireland, then this will be 5 minutes well spent! If you would to see more Integrated schools in Northern Ireland, I would urge all parents, friends and families to click this link and add your voice of support to Integrated education.
Thank you
Mr J McDaid (Principal)
