Our topic this term is … Space
P2 have been learning all about space. They have built rockets and made aliens from play dough.
Primary 2 Topic is 999 Emergency Services
They were delighted to have the Firefighters and the Police came for a visit.
The children decided they wanted to make a raft for International Day. They had a lot of fun and started first by finding items in the Forest. Then they came back and in groups they designed and drew up plans using a large sheet of paper. Some decided that their raft was going to be a pirate one and so included special features in their design. After this they worked together creating their own group raft using the materials they gathered. Finally, the children predicted if the raft would float or sink before trying out the activity. All five groups were delighted that their raft floated. Y
P2 have been learning about the different types of houses. We had great fun building them on the forest. The children put a lot of effort into their house. They planned and used items they found to help as a tool. What a super time we had.
This weeks story was the Three Pigs. The topic is houses and homes. They carried out an experiment to predict which material house would stand when the big bad wolf (hair dryer) came. The children gave their predictions and the Lego house was the only one left standing. There was marshmallows, spaghetti, large potatoe crisps and Lego stations.
As part of our festivals topic for Integrated Month, we learnt about St Patrick’s Day and how it is celebrated in Ireland and all around the world. We worked together to make our own pictures showing some of the items associated with St Patrick. Each person had to take on a different role in the team and we had lots of fun working together.
