Welcome from the Principal Mr Jim McDaid
For over three decades Hazelwood has provided an alternative to segregated primary education in North Belfast. We, like all Integrated schools, have been a beacon for reconciliation in our often bitterly divided community.
Our strong child centred and pastoral ethos ensures that our pupils are at the heart of everything we do, while encouraging parental involvement at all levels of the school.
We provide high quality teaching and learning in a uniquely beautiful setting.
As you might expect from Northern Ireland’s first Forest School we place importance on outdoor learning, not only in our purposely designed outdoor learning areas but also in the 17-acre Throne Wood we access directly from the school.
Each of our 16 well-resourced classrooms are fully equipped to deliver a curriculum that is creative and challenging, where all pupils will have access to the latest in digital learning technology.
By joining the Hazelwood community as a parent, pupil or member of staff you become part of the peace process of Northern Ireland. The rich experiences of inclusiveness and mutual respect your child will receive, will help them become advocates and ambassadors for peace and reconciliation, and so play their part in helping to create a community that is shared and respectful of tradition and identity.
