Numeracy
The P5 classes partnered up to work with someone new. Together they created multiplication arrays using natural resources. A chilly day in the woods.
Mrs Armstrong’s class used Numicon to make symmetrical patterns.
To celebrate "Maths Week" our P5 pupils embarked on an enterprise project. The children were tasked with selling 25 Halloween slap bands to their P4 peers. The kids were solely responsible for estimating the original price for each band, marketing the sale of the bands, selling and accounting for the number of bands sold, and calculating the total profit or loss.
Here are some pictures of Mr Clark’s recent numeracy activities in P5. The children used tally charts to record the number of red, blue, black, white and silver cars that passed the school over a period of time. Then we put our digital skills to the test by transferring this information to bar graphs in the computer suite. Finally we analysed the data, creating questions about our data and drawing some conclusions about the information we gathered.
Mrs Armstrong’s class made tally charts of car colours passing the school and then brought their data to life using play dough, Lego, cubes and counters.
