New Dinner Menu9 February 2022 (by Tricia Douglas (admin)) |
Just before Christmas I asked you to complete an audit about many aspects of the school. Although we were delighted with the overwhelming positive feedback, we also wanted to consider your comments on things you would like to see improved in the school.
32% of you wanted the school dinners to change. Also a number of parents voiced disappointment that the Friday treat had ended.
While my priority will always be ensuring that Hazelwood promotes a healthy lifestyle, I am conscious that there continues to be a desire for a return to a Friday treat.
So, two changes to look out for after half term are:
- After considerable consultation with pupils, the catering staff and EA, we are changing our School Dinner Menu. We listened to what our pupils told us about their School Dinner experience. The menu will now have more of the dinners pupils liked most. Also one day each week will be a “Themed Day”, including Tex Mex, Happy Meal, A Taste Of The Orient (Chinese) and Italian.
The menu as always will meet the rigorous nutritional standards set by the EA, of which we must comply. We will have music in the canteen.
The intention is to improve the lunchtime canteen experience for our pupils and staff!
- I have also reflected on the Friday Treat for those who have a packed lunch in class. Starting from Friday 25th February ONLY FOR THOSE PUPILS WHO WILL BE HAVING A PACKED LUNCH, they may bring in 1 SMALL item to be eaten at LUNCHTIME ONLY. Please ensure that this treat is not excessive and is a treat and not the entire lunch! In the past we unfortunately had examples of large bars of chocolate, whole packets of biscuits and family bags of crisps being sent in as a treat. Teachers and Classroom Assistants will continue to monitor lunchboxes.
The Friday treat will be under review but I hope by sensible choices, pupils will once again enjoy their classroom Friday lunchtime treat.
As ever drinks are water or fruit juice, not fizzy soft drinks.
I have attached our new revamped School Dinner Menu. We hope you and your child enjoy this new lunch schedule.
